Growing plants

Over the millennia, over the centuries the various varieties of indigenous plants have become adjusted to the local conditions. The gene pool of these varieties provides these plants with a strong structure, as a result of which these hardy plants are resistant to diseases, and at the same time their external appearance is attractive, their taste is delicious, their flavour is rich in aroma.

Here the colour of the paprika is a real dark-bright green, when you bite into the flesh of the fruit, it makes a cracking sound, and even if you eat the skin of the fresh paprika, it will not cause gastric complaints. Tomatoes grown here are ripened by the sun, they are juicy, with a rich and sweet flavour, a fruit produced in the vegetable-bed in our garden that we can take pride in, indeed.

The medicinal herbs as well as the various other sweet herbs are used for seasoning. They lend a unique flavour to dishes prepared from the vegetables grown in the area of the Kunpuszta, and also to the fruit of sea buckthorn. Chemicals cannot be found in the Eco-museum whatsoever. Luckily the ancient indigenous varieties grown here are still fully resistant to the attacks of a whole army of micro-organisms. We protect the health of our plants by using fluids originating from plants, the drying out of the soil is prevented by mulching, and by adding compost the increase of the nutritional value of these plants is facilitated.
